Can anyone tell me the name of this fruit?
This plant been in our garden for don’t know how many years…ya..since I moved here, already saw it in the garden. But I only realised the fruit’s existence when Wien brought it to me when she is 1 year old ++ At that time, she actively playing in garden, pick and pluck the leave, flowers and fruits to show me…
One time she tested the fruit by eating it, then she told me : 酸酸的( It’s sour, sour..) Since then we named the fruit as 酸酸果(Sour Fruit)! Are we creative?
All I can say is the fruits look like pumpkin! Please tell me the exact name if you know about it.

A cross between roseapple (red jambu) and a tomatobob. I know that ppl like to preserve this fruit until it turns yellow. I have eaten the yellow ones before.
I know the yellow type u mentioned but it’s different from this.
Wow, should not simply taste any fruit for fear of poison.
But anyway, if not mistaken, poisonous fruits/plants always have thorns one to prevent anyone from going near it.
I tot it was the one that michelle said also…. where they use to pickle… but i was going to add that i never saw that fruit in red color… different huh? interesting… u sure it can be eaten? hehe
Heehee, I thought it was what my grandma used to call ‘yau kam zhi’ (in Cantonese). Dat fruit is very sour. U are not sure of the fruit and u allowed Wien to eat, haiyo, better becareful neh, find out about it first.
if not mistaken it’s called Cemerai in BM. Very good source of Vit C. Keep some for me!
eh can simply taste wan or not? dun play play lor
Nice red fruit. Sorry, I hv never seen and taste one before.
Guess wien is brave, mommy lagi brave.
Hey all,
no worry, we do not hv poison fruit in the garden as MIL already taken away those plant with thorns or poison. Annie is right, it’s rich with Vit C but I dare not try it..it’s too sour!
looks like gajus to me, but fat versiobn
sorry, it’s buah CERMAI in bahasa, not cemerai… I know bout it cause my hub just bought a bottle of this powder for his mom, as source of Vit C (this bottle very expensive lo). It says that one biji of this little buah cermai, contains the Vit C of 100 apples. Isn’t it better to eat fresh? but i guess very very sour is it? I have been asking around, cause I want to plant this tree…. now I know where to get liao! can plant by using the seed?? any seed??
Annie,
ok, i will dry up some seed before post it to u..
Eh this is not chilli ah?
My house got similiar plant but my hubby says it’s chilli.
