Mummy, I have so many books……
Jan 16th, 2009 by Jesslyn
Wien first time brought back 17 books, few days later 9 books. After that another 2 – 3 books I think. So total about nearly 30 books if not mistaken. While wrapping the books, I already confuse which book belongs to which subject as the cover seems quite similar. Hehe…..
I ask Wien how she going to recognize the books? She told me have to learn by memorized the cover image lor. Erm….but so many books ler, how she is going to memorize all in short time? I also worry she might forget 1 book for certain subject sometimes.
Lucky my SIL#3 ( a primary school teacher) gave me a brilliant idea. In her school, she practiced this method and it work well for the primary 1 student so far. 1 subject at least has 2 – 3 books, so it is better to group them together.
She asked me buy some A4 size plastic bag, and then each subject goes into one plastic bag. So the students will not forget any books for one particular subject. This is a good idea to me; at least we only pack the books according to plastic bag but not to find book by book like I do earlier on.

After I sorted each subject in individual plastic bag, told Wien to put back the book to same plastic bag each time after the class, so that she will not mess up the books again. The method very useful to me at least. But at night have to double check the plastic bag content, just in case Wien messes up the books accidentally.
If you have kids in primary 1, try to pack the books this way, sure it will ease your work while teaching them to pack books according to time table. Just grab the whole plastic bag for 1 particular subject.

During my time, we just bring every thing to school. My parents didn’t bother to check or do anything like what parents are doing nowadays. In fact, my mum was a teacher in my primary school too.
You are big size, nvm lar, got energy to carry heavy bag. My girl small size ler…. LOL
Errm, I was very small size during standard 1 also. In fact, I was so small size until it got my parents and grandparents worried. They decided to boil 花生根 for me during standard 3 and that’s when I got big size and fit due to all the swimming lessons. I got very fat when I entered Form 3 because the swimming pool went bankrupt. Haha!
I bought a transparent plastic file for Tim to put all the moral books together as he needs to bring it to another class. For kebangsaan, we don’t have that many books. 3 per subject. Tim knows what goes where.
Also, I put a white label sticker on the front or the book wrapper, write his name, class and subject. Just in case, the books gets mixed up.
Yeah, I had done the labeling too!
That’s a very good idea!
Great idea!!!
thanks for sharing this tips. remind me next year ok?
我把儿子的书包分两个,一个背的,一个手提小书包。背的放课本,手提的放作业。
wah lau le…30 books for standard 1.
that’s too pressuring right…..
I dont remember I had 30 books for standard 1. besides 30 books, exercise book, art stuff, pe stuff…bag where got space lagi??????
It never cross my mind how she’s going to recognize all the books wor, thanks for reminding me and thanks for the idea. I love it. I’m going to try it.
I don’t have 30 books yet, that means more to come hor… and I realize the books are different for every school? I have not done labeling, except put extra name sticker (without class and subject) on the book , aiya..more homework for me
As for me, I recreate the daily time-table i.e. with the days, time and subjects on an A4 paper and color the subjects based on the color of the textbooks. For example the BM book is dark blue, so I color the subject “Bahasa Melayu” on the time-table dark blue. The same goes for other subjects as well - English (yellow), Moral Studies (purple), Science (green) and Chinese (pink). It is so much easier (at least for me), since I just based on the color of the time-table and select the books visually.
Wow… we even need a process to deal with primary sch books. But these r great suggestions. Anything that can make our kids’ life easier, rite?
Hey, that’s a great idea. Will keep this in mind :).
a great idea to pack books. I will keep this idea in mind. Will need them in 2 years time.
