Let’s play computer games
Apr 21st, 2008 by Jesslyn
“I want to play computer!”
“No, computer is not for you to play. It is use for work.”
“But I saw you play games in your computer!”
“………” speechless….sometimes hubby and myself did play games using the pc.
That’s how my girl’s response each time they saw us on the pc or notebook. They will beg us to allow them play online games until we give in. Usually I am the one who allow them to play, not hubby. Hubby stricter than me in terms of discipline.
One of my SILs strongly against us allowing our kids play online games at this age, 6 & 4 for Wien and Lyon respectively. But we are ok with it. To us, kids nowadays should catch up with internet technology, not only educational websites but also some educational online games that suitable for their age. Of course, adults have to supervise them while they are online. When they get older, I do wish they will spend more time at home online than hanging around at cyber café!
Lately I come to know about interesting interactive learning games, Mia Reading: The Bugaboo Bugs. I wish I could get a copy for my girls to try out since by now they had played most of the online games. This game is about The Bugaboo Bugs who give so much trouble to Mia, the mouse. The Bugaboo Bugs has invaded Mia’s charming Victorian house as well as created so much noisy and uncivilized activities to Mia and family. Therefore Mia needs helper and player’s help to find ways to get rid of them and stay out of site. In the game, the players can associating images to words, punctuation, phonics, rhymes, spelling, sentence structure, vocabulary, reading comprehension, word recognition, verb tense, adverbs, following instructions, and much more! 12 activities that follow the educational curriculum will be included and there are 4 difficulty levels (from kindergarten to 3rd grade). Choose the level according to your kid age. It also has surprise animations and many new characters to discover! Wow, this game so special, I am sure my girls and other kids could learn something from it.
Mia Reading: The Bugaboo Bugs is available on a hybrid DVD-ROM for Windows and Macintosh version. You could find them at TOYS ‘R US, The Apple Stores, and other fine toys and computer stores with a suggested retail price of $24.99 and is aimed at five to nine year olds.
Do grab a copy for your kids and have fun with them!
