Kitchen small tips
Jun 11th, 2007 by jesslyn
I remember when I start learn to cook, I always end up crying while peeling off onion’s skin. My solution is to place the onions far far away from my eye contact, but not so effective, my tears still will rolling out.
Later when I moved in to hubby’s house, I learn the trick to overcome it. MIL gave me an very useful tips: by peeling the onions in a container full of water, after that sock for few minutes before chopping them. I am not sure have you ever heard or try this tips or not, but it is very useful to me, at least no more crying in kitchen now.
Another tips I learn somewhere else is, keep the onions in fridge first before peeling off their skin, also can stop you from tearing. However I yet to try this. You may try it out and let me know.
I love onions very much, especially onion fried with eggs. I can eat them with rice, without other main or side dishes!

hahha, sounds like a great idea !! but I got a better way to stop u from crying!!! STOP EATING ONIONS ! hehhe …so, if i happen to cook, there won’t be any onions or garlic

My maid used to peel the onions for me but now …. sigh … I hate peeling onions too and I’ve tried soaking the onions in the water before peeling them. When Pappy wants to eat ‘Pan Meen”, he likes it with lots of fried onions *duh*.
