Conversation interruption
Mar 19th, 2008 by Jesslyn
Kids like to interrupt adult while adults are talking. Sound familiar to you? I have 2 at home too.
Each time when I talk to hub, one of them will come and interrupt. Even I tell her wait a while, let mummy finish talking first. But they will still call me and talk to me. Sometimes it really irritating me and I have to scream: keep quiet! Then only they will silent a while. Oh ya, Wien will silent a while but Lyon will make sad face to me and will start crying if I still ignore her.
Of course Hubby cannot stand this bad habit. So when he is talking to me, if one of them interrupts our conversation, he will ask her to see his face and listen properly.
“Papa is talking to your mummy. Don’t interrupt. If you have words with your mummy, let’s papa finish talking first. Understand?”
This is consider as first warning.
If they still interrupt, then papa will start his scolding or threaten them will not bring them go kai kai next time. They are more afraid than their papa. Now, I can see some improvement in Wien in terms of conversation interruption. Lyon still needs some time to teach her on this.

Yes I faced the same thing. No use threatening or scold them coz they are smart and they know. So what I do, I stop talking. Put a zip to their mouths. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but slowly improving.
Ya my boy also did the same. But if give him the stern look then he will keep quiet… hehehe…
Last time we taught them how to say “Excuse me.” Now when they are talking to me and hubby interrupts they ask him to say “Excuse me.” !!!
aiyo….lagi teruk when we are talking to friends lol :p
I think they were born to interrupt our conversations! Esp when I’m on the fon. grrrr….
Jo too, sometimes i feel like slapping him
if not for this post, i don’t even realize it’s the other way round in our household. when me and hub chatting… the kids start talking and when we ignore them, they will say, “mummy daddy, i’m talking… listen to me first.” and then, we will stop talking and listen to them instead …. so malu…
same with my 2 kids here. till today, i still can’t change my girl’s rude manners. she is a bit over impatient.
Sound so familiar.
I’m also trying to teach Zara this.
Tough huh? Must wait for the kids sleep already only can talk. Ha.
Same case here lar. Both my gals love to yak, yak and yak (and they do it deliberately sometimes) when I’m talking to my hubs. I find it really irritating.
I have the same prob. Sometimes I feel bad ignoring the little ones…
So end up, me & husb talk very little…
