About school bag

It’s the second week both girls in the school now. Everything seem settle.
Ok, Starting this week, the girls’ new chauffeur will be my SIL#1 coz my FIL no longer able to fetch them after class. A private Chinese school in town offer a post for my FIL to teach English in their school. My FIL happily accepted the offer since he still very keen to go back to teaching life all these while. After he retires from teaching many many years ago, he did not just sit at home eat and sleep. But he offer tuition classes for primary or secondary students in their house. The offer is based on 1 year contract. Btw, he is 70 years old this year.
Wien slowly can adjust herself in her new environment. All the books being distributed to them and me busy wrapping for her since most of the books are on loan. Have to take proper care for loan books. When I look at her books, I really feel uneasy for primary students. I was thinking, do they really need so many books at this stage? Why why why???
There are total 6 books (text and exercise books, not including the small exercise books) for Chinese Subject. 4 or 5 books for Scene subject (in Chinese medium), 2 or 3 books for Bahasa…bla bla bla …Maths and Scene in Chinese and English versions, so more books are require. *double sigh* I can feel my shoulder is painful now.
Hubby and I never think of trolley bag for Wien so far. We just get a normal school bag. That’s it. However after MIL and SIL#1 saw all the books and compare the books weight with her size, they start suggesting a trolley bag. Plus majority of Wien’s friends are holding trolley bag, so she also start begging for one. Frankly I am willing to spend for trolley bag after I weight her daily school bag. It is average 4 – 5 kg EVERYDAY!!! Can you imagine 7 yo kids carry 4 – 5 kg weight of books to school everyday? Wien is tall and we know she can bear the 4 – 5 kg but I still feel pity for her. If I am the one send her fetch her back everyday, then I can help her carry bag. Too bad, I am not. So mummy tries to convince papa to allow trolley bag for her. The main reason papa not agree with trolley bag is the bag itself already 1kg minimum, and it will add on the weight. To him, a student should carry school bag but not pull the bag like luggage. LOL…. I told him, we cannot compare our old time pattern with current situation. The edu system totally change and different from our time now. Plus her classroom is at ground floor, so still ok if use trolley bag.
Finally papa agreed, and mummy quickly brought Wien to shop and grab one Swan trolley bag!

Today, 14/01/2009, is the first day she carry the trolley bag to school.

Teaching at 70 years old? Come to think of it, my FIL is always 70 or 71 and still doing his biz. Really cannot retire hoh?
BTW, I think trolley bag is better for M’sia kids, the books are too much for them.
I just realized yesterday that the school also give out activity books. Funny, the teacher permits the student to write and color.
She looks happy with the bag. Hehe.
Wow, thats heavy!
Wien must be very happy about the new school bag.
Since her classroom is on the groundfloor, trolley bag would be really helpful. This heavy schoolbag has been ‘complained’ for years but nothing is gonna change.
the weight of the books, siao man!
It’s silly isn’t it, the number of books they have? But must she bring ALL the books to school every day? But good that you bought her a trolley bag. We must keep up with the times, eh?
ooh the bag looks big,,, nowadays reli pity the children have to carry so many books to school
No need to bring all books everyday right? Pack according to the timetable.
Yes, the 4-5kg weight is according to daily time table books.
